2.5 Environment Setup
The following describes the elements of the environment setup:
Network: Microsoft Lync Server 2013 environment and ATA are located in the
enterprise's Local Area Network (LAN).
Signaling Transcoding: Microsoft Lync Server works with SIP over TLS transport
type; ATA works with SIP over UDP transport type.
Codecs Transcoding: Microsoft Lync Server 2013 and ATA support G.711A-law and
G.711U-law coders.
Media Transcoding: Microsoft Lync Server 2013 works with the SRTP media type,
while the ATA works with the RTP media type.
Note: When an Analog phone number (From or To) call is received on the Lync Server,
it routes the call to the entity that serves the Analog phone; however, when a
FAX number (From or To) call is received on Lync Server, it routes the call back
to the entity that originated the call.
The following table clarifies the interworking for the different call flow scenarios:
