Configuration Note 1. Introduction

1 Introduction

This document describes the installation and configuration of the AudioCodes Enhanced

Gateway, which is deployed in the Lync Server environment.

The device consist of the following entities:



Gateway entity interfaces Microsoft Lync to the Digital Trunks



SBC entity interfaces Microsoft Lync to the Analog Devices

The device is typically co-located with Microsoft Mediation server at the enterprise’s

headquarters. The Mediation server is the entity responsible for interfacing the Lync Server

network with the gateway, which provides legacy connections to Analog devices (such as

fax machines and telephones) and/or the public switched telephone network (PSTN) or

private branch exchange (PBX).

The device also provides in the Lync Server environment, a connection to AudioCodes

MediaPack™ 1xx series as an Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA). The ATA provides

Foreign eXchange Station (FXS) port interface for connecting Analog devices.

This document provides step-by-step instructions on how to configure the device for

communication with the ATA. It also covers the ATA configuration communicating with the

device.

Note: This document doesn’t describe how to configure Analog devices that are

connected directly to the Enhanced Gateway's FXS ports.

Note: If your configuration does include Analog devices, refer to document Enhanced

Gateway for Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Configuration Note.

The figure below shows the high-level architecture of the Enhanced Gateway with Analog

Devices.
